The Avantree PowerByte is the best Bluetooth speaker with a built-in FM radio: a genuine tuner, 30 W of stereo output with bass radiators, twenty hours of battery, and it works as an ordinary Bluetooth speaker the rest of the time. The category is genuinely small — almost every mainstream brand dropped FM tuners years ago.
It is worth being clear about why this list is short. Manufacturers removed FM tuners because streaming replaced broadcast for most listening, and a tuner costs board space and money. The result is that if you search for a Bluetooth speaker with radio you will mostly find speakers that have no tuner at all, listed against that query anyway.
There is still a real case for a tuner though, and it is not nostalgia: a tuner works when the network does not. Campsites with no bars, power cuts, severe weather, a drive out of coverage — broadcast radio keeps going when a streaming app has nothing to play.
The picks
IllustrativeBest Bluetooth speaker with FM radio
Avantree PowerByte
A real radio first and a Bluetooth speaker second — which is the right way round here.
- What it does well
- A genuine FM tuner backed by 30 W of stereo output with bass radiators — the only speaker here that sounds like a speaker rather than a novelty — plus microSD, USB and a wired input, and twenty hours of battery.
- Where it cuts corners
- No published IP rating at all, so it stays indoors or on a covered porch, and it is a considerably less refined listen than any of the mainstream portables on this site.
- Who it is for
- Campsites, workshops, garages and emergency kits.
- Battery: 20 hours
- Water rating: No IP rating published — treat it as an indoor speaker
- Output: 30 W stereo with bass radiators

IllustrativeBest compact option
Avantree BoomByte
The cheap way to get a real FM tuner back in the house.
- What it does well
- Four sources in one small metal box — FM, Bluetooth, USB and microSD — at a price where most speakers offer Bluetooth alone, with eighteen hours of battery so it rarely needs charging.
- Where it cuts corners
- Dual 7 W drivers is quiet, there is no published water rating, and the sound is functional rather than enjoyable. This is a radio that streams, not a speaker that tunes.
- Who it is for
- Kitchens, bedsides and anyone replacing an aging clock radio.
- Battery: 18 hours
- Water rating: No IP rating published — treat it as an indoor speaker
- Output: Dual 7 W drivers

Tribit StormBox Blast
The loudest thing we are willing to call good value.
- What it does well
- Ninety watts, over thirty hours quoted, IPX7 and a 3.5 mm aux input, at a price that buys far more actual speaker than either radio model. For a phone with signal, a streaming radio app covers the same stations.
- Where it cuts corners
- **No FM tuner, no microphone input and no built-in mic** — Tribit's own FAQ confirms the mic point, and the party styling misleads people on both counts. Useless for radio if the signal drops.
- Who it is for
- Anyone whose radio listening is really a streaming app.
- Battery: Over 32 hours in independent testing
- Water rating: IPX7 — submersible to 1 m for 30 minutes

IllustrativeBest all-round alternative
Soundcore Boom 2
The value answer to a party speaker: it floats, it is loud, and it lasts a day.
- What it does well
- A dedicated 50 W subwoofer and two tweeters, buoyancy and a carry strap — much more speaker than anything with a tuner, and the right answer if radio is a nice-to-have rather than the requirement.
- Where it cuts corners
- No FM tuner at all, and the quoted battery assumes BassUp and lights off.
- Who it is for
- Buyers who realize on reflection that they stream everything.
- Battery: Up to 24 hours at 50% volume with BassUp and lights off
- Water rating: IPX7 — submersible to 1 m for 30 minutes, and it floats
- Output: Up to 80 W peak output (a 50 W subwoofer plus two 15 W tweeters)

Tuner, or streaming app?
| Situation | Built-in FM tuner | Streaming radio app |
|---|---|---|
| No cell signal | Works | Nothing plays |
| Power cut at home | Works on battery | Depends on your phone data |
| Local stations | All of them, free | Most, if they stream |
| Stations from elsewhere | No | Yes, anywhere |
| Sound quality for the money | Compromised | Buy any speaker you like |
| Phone battery | Untouched | Drains it |
One more tuner exists that did not make this list on sound: the JBL Wind 3, a 5 W handlebar speaker with FM, microSD and aux built in. It is far too quiet for a room, but it is the right shape for a bike — we cover it on speakers for a motorcycle.
If what you actually want is one speaker that copes with everything outdoors, the loudest for the money and camping speakers are the better starting points — camping in particular overlaps heavily with the no-signal case that makes a tuner worth having.
